A Favorite Event Caterer: Thomas Preti

A great deal of our events take place in venues that have their event caterer in-house. On those occasions where the venue allows for a choice of event caterers, we love to choose Thomas Preti. They are a pleasure to work with for many reasons, not the least of which is that they are so accommodating.

Working with a client to choose the best menu can be a lengthy process with many revisions. Thomas Preti is always courteous and cordial throughout the process, and always quick with fresh menu ideas that are best suited to the event’s specifics and the client’s wishes. We have worked with them on one-time events like the ACOEL Meeting in NYC and on repeat events like the 14th Street Y, and they are very game to adjust the menu so it is full of new items tailored to the new theme of the event. Thomas Preti is great at working within the constraints of a non-profit event budget, and are eager to suggest both economical improvements and cost-cutting measures that will not affect the overall tone and quality of the event.

When you are working on-site, it can be quite a challenge. Each venue has its own specific constraints with regard to layout, how the flow of service will happen, narrow windows for unloading and departing, maneuvering around the site, etc. Thomas Preti handles all of these specifics with aplomb and professionalism.

To see Thomas Preti set up their kitchen on-site is quite a sight. They build their own kitchen from the ground up – literally! The first step in this event caterer’s set-up process is papering the floor to both define the kitchen area and protect the event site. The foods that come out of this “pop-up kitchen” are savory and sweet delights!

Event caterer Thomas Preti’s staff is uniformly courteous, friendly, and open to help out in any way. And why shouldn’t they be – they are serving delicious food for a great cause!

Amy Ferrone brought her communication and organizational skills to the event planning firm Events with Ginger & Co. in 2011. Now Associate Event and Office Manager, she has been the lead event planner on events for Autism Speaks, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Foundation Fighting Blindness, among others. She is also on-site at virtually every event at which the events company works.

Prior to her time as a full-time mom to Mac, Owen and Sean, Amy worked on Wall Street, last at AIG Global Investment Group as an Operations Manager and Consultant. Amy is active in her sons’ schools as Treasurer of the PTA and helping plan and run events throughout the year. Amy graduated from the College of the Holy Cross with a degree in Chemistry. She lives in Scotch Plains, NJ with her husband and boys.
