I first met photographer Michael Del Rossi when he volunteered to take photos at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Verona, NJ Light the Night Walk. Now, Del Rossi Photography has become a favorite event vendor of ours, so much so that I even hired Michael to take photos at my wedding (5 years ago this upcoming September – don’t we look so young?)!
When Michael is photographing an event, it seems like he is everywhere at once. For a single event, he has taken more than 1,200 photos in varying light and orientations to give the client options.
For our purposes, we love the room or crowd shots showing the event as a whole. Our clients, however, are looking for the small group photos that they can send to the guests post-event or use for PR or social media purposes. To be sure the event photographer is capturing all of the VIPs, we always send a client-approved shot list in advance of the event and help point out those guests on-site.
At one event, Michael brought a technician to upload the photos from the cocktail reception to show during the sit-down dinner that followed. For another, he introduced us to a videographer – who also donated his time – to interview guests and create a post-event video for the organization to share on social media.
Like other favorite event vendors of ours, Del Rossi Photography works with us on pricing and logistical arrangements to accommodate our clients’ needs, particularly non-profit organizations. It is collaborators like Michael that make our job a little bit easier and lot more enjoyable.
I hope you are enjoying and finding useful this blog series on our favorite event vendors. Let us know a favorite event vendor of yours!
